The Washington Trust for Historic Preservation (WTHP) is dedicated to saving the places that matter in Washington State and promoting sustainable and economically viable communities through historic preservation. WTHP helps make local preservation work by building a statewide ethic that preserves Washington’s historic places through advocacy, education, collaboration, and stewardship.

The Washington Trust for Historic Preservation is offering a flexible 2019 summer internship position for motivated individuals looking to gain experience in historic preservation.

The internship will primarily involve working independently on a variety of special projects, depending on weekly availability and duration of the internship. Special project activities will include:

  • Writing (synthesizing and summarizing grant project information)
  • Grant administration assistance
  • Database creation and organization
  • Mapping
  • Digitizing materials





Required internship candidate skills and qualifications:

  • Must embrace the mission of the WTHP and have an interest in historic preservation and downtown revitalization.
  • Must be enrolled in or recently graduated from an accredited undergraduate or graduate program. Enrollment in or graduation from a program offering a degree in historic preservation, urban planning, architectural history, architecture, engineering, or related field is a plus.
  • Must be detail-oriented with strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple project components.
  • Adaptable and comfortable working both collaboratively and independently.
  • Must have strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office. Proficiency in Adobe InDesign and Photoshop is a plus.
  • Graphic design experience is a plus.
  • GIS experience is a plus.
