ESA is currently seeking a junior level Architectural Historian to conduct archival research and survey, and to write report sections for Historic Resources Assessments.  As a member of our Southern California Cultural Resources Group, the selected candidate will contribute to a wide range of interesting projects throughout the region and practice, and will be part of an interdisciplinary team that includes staff from our Water, Energy, Community Development, Transportation, and Airports practices. The successful candidate will have excellent research skills and an understanding of available archival materials, ability to prepare historic contexts, California DPR 523 forms, possess superb technical writing skills, be detail-oriented, budget and schedule conscious, and have overall organizational capabilities. The selected candidate would be located in either ESAs Los Angeles, Pasadena, or Santa Monica office.

 

Requirements:

 

Candidates must possess outstanding archival research skills, knowledge of architectural building styles and excellent survey and documentation skills including ability to prepare clear and concise resource descriptions and California DPR 523 forms, excellent written and oral communication skills, strong computer skills, and a demonstrated ability to work as part of an interdisciplinary cultural resources team. Qualified candidates should have a Bachelors Degree in Architectural History or related field, at least three (3) years of professional experience in historic preservation or related field and experience in Southern California. Experience with NRHP and CRHR resource evaluations and CEQA, as well as experience with local Los Angeles development projects preferred.
