ESA is currently seeking an outstanding Architectural Historian to join a growing group of architectural historians within ESAs Cultural Resources Group in any one of ESAs Southern California offices. The candidate selected for this position will have the opportunity to work on a wide range of interesting architectural history projects throughout southern California and elsewhere in ESAs geography, including being part of interdisciplinary teams working on projects in our Water, Energy, Community Development, Transportation and Airports practices. The successful candidate must bring to the position project management capabilities; agency experience; broad-based knowledge in the recordation and evaluation of historic architectural resources, including multi-property surveys, as well as the application of federal, state, and local evaluation criteria; experience preparing EIR/EIS sections and developing mitigation; as well as experience in a variety of resource types including water and energy infrastructure.

 

Requirements:

 

 

 

Candidates must possess outstanding problem-solving ability, excellent written and oral communication skills, strong computer skills, and a demonstrated ability to work both independently and with a team. Qualified candidates should have Masters Degree in Architectural History or related field, at least seven (7) years of professional experience in historic preservation or related field (meeting the Secretary of the Interiors Standard for Architectural History and History), experience in Southern California, and a strong working knowledge of Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act and CEQA/NEPA compliance. Caltrans experience preferred.
