Are you a preservation professional ready to help us shape the next 50 years of one of America’s oldest architectural review districts? German Village Society in Columbus, Ohio, seeks a vibrant, broad-based program leader to help us continue to implements a 5-year strategic plan that is chock full of preservation projects. German Village is one of the preeminent historic districts in the United States. It was officially designated by the city as a local historic district in 1963, the template of which was used to write guidelines for Victorian and Italian Villages. From that point forward, German Village Society (GVS), led the way for creating preservation in Columbus. In 1974, German Village was listed on the National Register of Historic Places. In 2007, it was made a "Preserve America Community" by the White House. And in 2011, the American Planning Association designated German Village a Top 10 Great Neighborhood in the US.

We are looking for the staff leader that is the center of our nonprofit mission to preserve, protect and celebrate our community. Youll join three permanent full-time staff, a small stable of professional contractors, an army of regular volunteers and a stable, active board of 13. A combination of independent judgement, strong preservation principles, and ability to drive projects should meet a personality that loves outreach in a small community, collaboration across the 15th largest city in the nation, and the pace of a small nonprofit.
