The Preservation League of New York State is seeking a historic preservation program intern to assist with a range of preservation projects at the League’s downtown Albany office. Successful candidates should have or be pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Historic Preservation, Architectural History, Urban Planning, or a related field, and have:

Strong writing skills;

Ability to effectively prioritize and meet deadlines;

Ability to work independently;

Attention to detail;

Architectural photography skill;

Comfort with social media, especially Instagram and Facebook;

Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Access; and ? Previous preservation or planning experience (volunteer or paid) desirable.

As a Historic Preservation Program intern, you will work primarily with the Director of Preservation and Preservation Associate, but could also work with staff from several different departments in the office on a variety of preservation projects. Projects may include:

Reviewing current and past active Seven to Save Designations; working closely with Preservation Associate and Director of Preservation to assess Seven to Save work plans and provide technical services/outreach to our current and past active Seven to Save Sites

Planning outreach events, researching case studies, writing newsletter copy and assisting with social media campaigns

Updating Seven to Save descriptions on the Preservation League’s website The internship will run for five weeks, flexible start date.

37.5 Hours/Week

$15/hour, total stipend of $2,812.50
