College and graduate students interested in an arts management career are encouraged to apply for a Summer Internship at Strathmore Hall Foundation, Inc. for the period of May 2016 through August 2016. Applications are due no later than Monday, February 22nd, 2016 by 5:00pm

This summer we have openings for paid internships (35 hours/week) in Programming/Operations, Development, Visual Arts, Marketing/Communications, Facilities/Operations, and Rentals/Event Planning.  If the applicant is pursuing an internship for school credit, they must contact Strathmore in advance to ensure that all school requirements can be met.    

Duties:

ANTICIPATED DUTIES IN DEVELOPMENT 

·Process, print and mail weekly member acknowledgement letters and monthly member renewal letters

·Prepare Strathmore Welcome Packs for new members

·Develop member engagement materials such as Notes on Seats and Surprise and Delight opportunities

·Clean donor records for correct and consistent information 

·Support the development team with administrative tasks as needed such as stuffing envelopes, filing, organizing event materials, answering donor calls and emails

·Other duties as assigned

ANTICIPATED DUTIES IN MARKETING AND COMMUNICATIONS

·Research artists and collect assets for artists coming to Strathmore 

·Assist with a variety of Grassroots Marketing tasks including researching and reaching out to targeted groups and delivering flyers or newsletters

·Draft press releases and assist with organizing press clippings

·Post or share Strathmore performances and events on community calendars and listservs

·Proof publications, advertisements, and emails

·Represent Strathmore at events and performances (including some evenings/weekends)

·Assist with content and design of Strathmore collateral

·Compose social media toolkits for shows, including 5 posts for each artist

ANTICIPATED DUTIES IN RENTALS/EVENT PLANNING

·Assist in the contracting and execution of social and corporate events (some evening and/or weekend hours required)

·Research and develop new ideas for rental events at Strathmore and at AMP

·Update online event website subscriptions

·Actively work with the Operations team using the new calendar software by requesting holds for renters and outside presenters, use Outlook and Excel documents to share information and update event requests as well as vendor needs and timelines for distribution to the operations staff 

·Prepare, organize, and maintain event folders and records

ANTICIPATED DUTIES IN VISUAL ARTS

·Provide administrative support for all visual arts exhibition and educational programming, including but not limited to Childrens Talk and Tours, Panel Discussions, and Teen Art Camp

·Assist with installation and de-installation of exhibits, and coordination of the receiving and releasing of artworks to artists and buyers 

·Act as the liaison to Strathmore Artist Members, Exhibiting Artists and Strathmore patrons

·Archive past exhibitions and participating artists

ANTICIPATED DUTIES IN PROGRAMMING/OPERATIONS

·Assist with advance and hospitality for various programming

·Contact artist management and prepare production sheets 

·Research future programming

·Assist with many facets of general operations 

·Provide backstage logistical assistant at events

ANTICIPATED DUTIES IN FACILITIES/OPERATIONS

·Assist with the administrative component of indoor/outdoor maintenance of campus building(s)

·Assist with the administrative component of the  physical setup and breakdown of internal/external events

·Assist with special maintenance projects

·Assist with daily administrative operational components

·Assist with reorganization of filing systems / processes 

·Research best practices in facilities/operations programs

Requirements:

Ideal applicants are current juniors or seniors with at least two years of liberal arts, arts management or arts-related study at the college level, but first or second year college students will also be considered. Those who are currently enrolled in graduate programs and those who completed undergraduate studies no earlier than May 2015 will also be considered. Excellent written and verbal communications skills are essential. Applicants must demonstrate a sincere interest in the behind-the-scenes operations of an arts center. Access to a car and previous experience in customer service or arts administration are beneficial.
