This position is responsible for developing and conducting interpretive programs for a major historic site. Duties will include working closely with the re-enactor community to recruit volunteers and solicit support for park events.  This position will oversee and present historically oriented interpretive programs and tours on a daily basis with the intent of increasing the publics awareness of these resources which will require dressing in World War II era attire which can be extremely hot during the heat of summer.   Extensive off-season research with emphasis on establishing a museum about the site along with teaching the staff how to safely conduct daily black powder demonstrations including firing of the Forts 3 gun.

 

 

 

 

Applicants who do not possess the preferred qualification will still be eligible to compete for this position if job requirements are met.

 

  1. Knowledge of museum practices such as collection management, research, exhibit design, management and handling of collections, preservation or maintenance of historic buildings, conducting museum educational programs or tours.

      2.  Six months experience working at a day camp, nature center, interpretive  center,  or museum.
