Olde Mohawk has provided historic preservation consulting and contracting services for over one hundred structures throughout New York and the New England states including several dozen on the National Register of Historic Places. We believe that a multi-disciplinary approach to the planning of all aspects of historic preservation projects is necessary to preserve the heritage of our built environment. As active participants in the preservation community we are appreciative of the limited resources available for the preservation and maintenance of the cultural heritage embodied in historic structures. We endeavor to provide historically appropriate, sensitive, creative, and responsible solutions to the stewards of these treasures.

Olde Mohawk Historic Preservation, an award-winning contracting and consulting firm based north of Boston, announces a rare opportunity for the right candidate.  Olde Mohawk specializes in traditional roofing systems (slate, clay tile and cedar), copper sheet metal work, masonry restoration, and architectural woodwork.  Olde Mohawk has worked on over one hundred buildings on the National Register of Historic Places and is recognized as expert craftsmen throughout New England.  The right candidate will be self-motivated and possess a strong desire to learn masonry, roofing, sheet metal work, and carpentry skills.  Olde Mohawk will supply all tools and materials needed during the course of the apprenticeship.  

COMPENSATION

Will be commensurate with experience and increase as skills are learned and improve.  The total duration of the apprenticeship is three years, during which wages will increase.

REQUIREMENTS

All candidates must possess a valid drivers license and reliable transportation.  No alternative arrangements will be considered.  Most projects take place within I-495 around Boston, but we may work as far north as Portsmouth or as far south as Providence.  A positive attitude and desire to learn are a must--no exceptions.
