Skelly and Loy, Inc. has periodic openings for Archaeological Field Technicians. The pay rate for the position is between $11.00 $13.00 per hour (based on experience). Field sessions may consist of 5-day or 10-day work periods. Lodging is provided on non-local projects on work days only and is company paid. Meal allowance is provided; however, receipts are required. Because of the temporary nature of the position, it is classified as part-time casual and no benefits are included. EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE
- Degree from an accredited school in Anthropology, Archaeology, or closely related field
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Perform field work at Phase I survey, Phase II testing, and/or Phase III data recovery levels
- Perform basic laboratory tasks such as sorting, washing, and labeling artifacts
- Prepare accurate and neat field and laboratory documentation and mapping
REQUIRED SKILLS
- Minimum of 3 months professional experience in the archaeology of the Mid-Atlantic region
- Demonstrated experience in archaeological fieldwork and recordation
- Ability to perform physically demanding tasks such as lifting, and walking on uneven surfaces carrying equipment in extreme weather conditions
- Eligibility to work in the United States without sponsorship
DESIRED SKILLS
- Working knowledge of Section 106
