Organized in 1981, the Preservation Alliance is Minnesota’s statewide, nonprofit historic preservation organization with a mission to lead and inspire people to connect with historic places. The Preservation has nine full- and part-time professionals. The organization is governed by a 21-member Board of Directors. The Preservation Alliance has office in Saint Paul and Rochester with office hours between 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. Evening and weekend meetings and events also take place after regularly-scheduled hours of operation.

The Preservation Alliance of Minnesota is seeking a real estate, historic preservation, business, or development professional for the position of Real Estate Coordinator.  The Real Estate Coordinator will be responsible for administering, planning, and initiating the Real Estate Program.  The Real Estate Coordinator will have the opportunity to build this program and shape it into the future.  The goal of this position is to preserve important residential, commercial, and institutional buildings, actively partner and align Preservation Alliance with development professionals and entities, and develop a revolving fund. 


 

 

 

Position Responsibilities

 

  • Fosters and develops positive working relationships with property owners, developers, construction professionals, and preservationists to increase program participation.
  • Assist easement property owners in anticipating maintenance and repairs that might affect protected features, maintains documentation of discussions with property owners throughout the year for the purpose of creating a legal record between PAM and the property owner, and reviews requests for approval of repairs or alterations.
  • Promote all aspects of the Preservation Alliances Real Estate Program including purchase options, gifts of real estate, easements, bargain sales, and investment partnerships.
  • Continue development of the revolving fund.
  • Secure new clients and maintain relationships with existing clients in all program areas.
  • Market and promote real estate programs to ensure revenue goals are met on a yearly basis.
  • Manage jobsite activities including supervision of contractors, purchase of materials and organizing/supervising volunteer activities.
  • Write grant applications, press releases, and bid documents.
  • Responsible for planning, tracking and reporting on deliverables.
  • Identify new opportunities, develop new programs, seek out new partnerships, and maintain community relationships.
  • Administer the Real Estate program budget.
  • Develop an annual program budget, operating plan, and work plan.
  • Supervise 1-3 interns or staff.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Preservation Support Services Manager.
  • Write articles for the Minnesota Preservationist, write blog posts, attend staff meetings, support events, and other duties related to being staff at PAM.

 

 

 

Minimum Qualifications and Skills

 

  • Minimum of an undergraduate degree in real estate, business, architecture, construction, historic preservation, or related program. 

  • One to two years direct working experience with real estate, project management, development, or historic preservation.    

  • The ideal candidate will demonstrate excellent leadership, organizational, written and verbal communication skills, the ability to develop and foster strong working relationships with a wide range of stakeholders, and the ability to prioritize a large number of tasks and responsibilities.  He/she must be energetic, self-motivated, imaginative, and well-organized.

  • Demonstrated ability to develop creative leadership solutions in difficult and complex situations is necessary.
