Procon Consulting is seeking a full time Historic Preservation Architect with 8-12 years of experience for a highly visible and large project located in Washington, D.C.

Responsibilities:

  • Serve as historic preservation technical point of contact for Project Executives, Project Managers,and Construction Manager.
  • Review design and construction documents and construction activity to ensure compliance with Historic Preservation Design guidelines, other applicable Section 106 governing documents and the Secretary of the Interiors Standards.
  • Monitor site activity for any potential unanticipated adverse effects to historic resources.
  • Provide technical interpretation of Secretary of Interiors Standards for design and construction teams and provide proactive design research and potential solutions for historic preservation design challenges.
  • Provide Historic Preservation team lead with regular updates on status, issues, or challenges related to historic preservation issues on site.
  • Act as liaison between historic preservation contractors and other team members as necessary to facilitate proactive, creative solutions.

Position Qualifications:

  • Must have a professional degree in architecture or state license to practice architecture, plus one year of graduate study in architectural preservation, American architecture history, preservation planning, or closely related field; or at least one year of full-time professional experience on historic preservation projects.
  • Must have 8-12 years of architectural experience.
  • Experience with application of the Secretary of the Interior's Standards for the Treatment of Historic Properties and/or 19th century masonry buildings preferred.
  • Professional experience interacting with general contractors or construction managers a plus.
