The City and County of Denver is seeking a highly motivated, creative and accomplished city planner or design related professional with expertise in historic preservation to join our Planning Services team. Position is responsible for carrying out the requirements of the citys Historic Preservation Ordinance. Primary duties will include, but are not limited to, assisting and guiding applicants submitting projects through the citys historic design and demolition review processes, reviewing applications for Certificates of Appropriateness in accordance with adopted design guidelines and policies, preparing staff reports and making presentations before the Landmark Preservation Commission and the Lower Downtown Design Review Board, and participating in all aspects of the landmark preservation program.
Education Requirement: Masters Degree in City or Regional Planning, Architecture, or a directly related Degree such as Historic Preservation.
Experience Requirement: Three years of professional experience in developing and implementing policies, procedures and design guidelines related to historic properties and districts. Demonstrated knowledge and use of the Secretary of the Interiors Standards for the Treatment of Historic Properties and experience performing design review for designated historic properties and districts, prior experience working on an interdisciplinary team, and demonstrated experience working with a wide range of stakeholders on complex multi-faceted projects with tight time deadlines is highly desired.spects of the landmark preservation program as required.
