Commonwealth Preservation Group (CPG) is a small woman-owned business established in 2004. CPG provides preservation planning, historic rehabilitation tax credit, historic resource and National Register nomination consulting services across the Commonwealth of Virginia and in neighboring states. CPG has worked with homeowners, architects, historical societies, developers, religious institutions, and municipalities to guide proper rehabilitation of historic buildings, identify and survey historic resources, and to promote sound preservation planning.

$10 per hour


Commonwealth Preservation Group, a full service preservation consulting firm located in Norfolk, Virginia, is seeking a fall intern.  The position requires a full-time commitment with pay of $10/hour.  The ideal candidate has an undergraduate degree in Historic Preservation, Urban Planning, Real Estate, Architecture, or a related field.   We are looking for a self-starter with interest in historic preservation, revitalization, and research.  Tasks will be varied and include the following:


  • Historic building research;

  • Photographic documentation of historic buildings;

  • Assembly of documentation;

  • Develop and describe building restoration plans;

  • Support professional staff with administrative assistance;

  • Other duties as assigned.

While this internship is planned to end on December 31, 2014, it has the potential to become a long term position with more substantial salary and benefits.
