REQUEST FOR PROPOSALS FOR Historic Preservation Consulting Services
Purpose The City of Louisville is developing a preservation master plan for its historic preservation program. The City has a unique preservation program supported by a dedicated sales tax that has resulted in 25 local landmarks. However, the City has never had an adopted preservation master plan to guide the program. The 2013 Comprehensive Plan update called for the creation of such a plan to define the goals of the preservation program and map out how to achieve them. The Comp Plan is available here: http://louisvilleco.gov/Portals/0/Planning/Comp%20Plan/2012-2013compplan/FINALComprehensiveplan07May2013.pdf.
City staff will lead the creation of the plan, but the City is seeking targeted consultant assistance in a few key areas, including an external review of the program and guidance on best practices. The selected consultant team will be expected to participate in public meetings and other outreach activities, help analyze the existing program and help generate implementation strategies for the goals identified in the plan. Louisville is seeking an expert in historic preservation to ensure the plan covers all relevant topics and includes the best guidance possible.
Timeline The preservation master plan is expected to begin in late summer 2014 and be finished in approximately nine months.
Budget The project budget for the preservation master plan $22,000.
