Responsible for reviewing federally funded, licensed, and assisted projects to determine their effects on National Register listed or eligible properties in accordance with Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act and its implementing regulation, 36 CFR Part 800. Review Phase I, Phase II, and Phase III archaeological reports, Data Recovery Plans, and proposed mitigation measures that are completed for Section 106 compliance on behalf of the State Historic Preservation Officer (SHPO). Represent the SHPO in consultation meetings regarding projects that are subject to Section 106 compliance and the development of agreement documents. Review qualifications of professional archaeologists in relation to the Secretary of the Interiors Standards and the KHC specifications for conducting fieldwork and preparing cultural resource assessment reports. Assist members of the Public who have questions or concerns regarding archaeological resources and/or the Section 106 process. Perform other duties as assigned.
