This position is responsible for senior-level professional work in the Planning and Zoning Department, performing a variety of planning, analytical, and research duties related to the Towns preservation program and with respect to urban design issues on land development applications or other Town projects.

REQUIRED:   Bachelors Degree in historic preservation, architectural history, planning, design or a related field and five years progressively responsible experience in historic preservation planning and zoning, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Must possess extensive knowledge of historic preservation; excellent writing/verbal communication skills; knowledge of Virginia enabling legislation and state programs regarding preservation

PREFERRED:  Masters Degree in historic preservation, architecture, architectural history, planning, design, or related field with 7 years progressively responsible experience in preservation work with background in urban design and/or architecture; experience administering a local preservation program; bilingual in English/Spanish
