A.D. Marble & Company is seeking an Architectural Historian to carry out Section 106 and Section 110-related studies across the Mid-Atlantic region. Candidates should have a MA or MS degree in Architectural History, Historic Preservation or a closely related field, and five years of professional work experience. Candidates with a BA, strong preservation training, and at least seven years of professional work experience will also be considered.
The ideal candidate will have experience conducting historic structure and landscape surveys and completing documentation related to Section 106 and Section 110 of the National Historic Preservation Act and the National Environmental Policy Act. This should include experience preparing a variety of report types, including but not limited to National Register nominations, Historic Structures Reports, Preservation Plans, Federal Tax Credit Applications, and HABS/HAER documentations. Candidates with demonstrated experience working with federal agencies, including but not limited to the Department of the Navy, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, and U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, are preferred. The position requires knowledge of Mid-Atlantic regional architectural history; Secretary of Interiors Standards for the Treatment of Historic Properties; photography; management of multiple projects; interaction with clients, government agencies, and the public; and ability to work in a team atmosphere. Excellent research, writing, proofreading, and editing skills are essential.
