Summary: The Sustainability Coordinator is responsible for developing and expanding the sustainability efforts and programs of Galveston Historical Foundation. This position requires a creative, driven professional, eager to find new ways of serving the Galveston community.
Ø Develop the Center for Coastal Heritage, studying the unique factors impacting historic preservation efforts in coastal settings, and the Green Revival Program, educating homeowners and building professionals through seminars and green rehabilitation projects.
Ø Write grant applications, press releases, and bid documents.
Ø Perform additional duties as assigned by the department head or Executive Director and working flexible hours as necessary to provide services.
Ø Perform duties as staff liaison with the Green Revival Committee and coordinate efforts with the board of directors, volunteers and other staff.
Education: Candidates should have an graduate degree in architecture, construction, historic preservation or a related field. Training and certifications in green building practices and Geographic Information System (GIS) is also helpful.
Skills: Ability to interact one-on-one and in groups with diverse clients and general public and communicate clearly in oral and written formats. Strong organizational, computer (Microsoft Office, Excel, PowerPoint) and writing skills, working knowledge of historic preservation practices, construction techniques and materials, and architectural history. Experience developing bid documents, project budget management and with construction administration. Post-emergency assessment, recovery and assistance will be one requirement of this position. Must be able to balance many tasks at once and shift priorities to accommodate change.
