Ever wanted to spend the summer on Facebook, but couldn’t figure out how to tell the parents that you were doing it for credit? How about working for the Anacostia Trails Heritage Area and helping us develop a social media strategy while making sure our name gets spread around?
Anacostia Trails Heritage Area seeks a summer and/or fall intern to help create interactive media that showcases our work throughout the heritage area. We are looking to connect with local residents and interested visitors to get them to care about this region’s historical, cultural and natural resources. Work closely with our Executive Director as we develop outreach and public relations web based materials for businesses, individuals, and organizations. Your tasks will include:
• Helping identify target audiences
• Building and growing our mailing list, including identifying contact in the business and non profit realm.
• Designing templates and launching e-blast documents
• Developing a social media strategy including, but not limited to, Facebook, Twitter, Foursquare, Tumblr, LinkedIn
ATHA Inc. is a small non profit based in Hyattsville, MD (near Washington D.C.) Our primary mission is to help develop the communities we serve through heritage tourism. We work in technical assistance, outreach, education, partnerships, and funding. One of our big projects is the War of 1812 Bicentennial.
We would like a commitment of a few hours a week. Schedule is flexible, and much of the work can be done off-site.
Energetic, dynamic individual with an interest in history. Preferred qualifications: social media, blogging, and/or tech experience. Also preferred are excellent writing abilities and a friendly demeanor.
