The Historic Districts Council, the citywide advocate for New Yorks historic districts, seeks a qualified individual for part-time employment organizing and producing educational programs for the general public and professional audiences. The position will be responsible for arranging venues, speakers, written materials and all other details for approximately 20 annual programs, ranging from educational lecture series for design professionals to walking and bike tours of historic neighborhoods. The individual should be a self-starter who can coordinate an event from beginning to end, including follow-up. Experience in museum or arts education is preferred, basic graphic and web design skills is desirable. Hours are approximately 20/week with some evenings, pay commensurate with experience.
Tasks include:
Working with Board committees on the programming of events
Drafting program descriptions
Overseeing layout & printing of brochures and other printed materials
Writing press releases and contacting press outlets
Creation of program-specific web-resources (such as online registration)
Arranging venue and A/V equipment rentals (where necessary)
Arranging for catering (when necessary)
Finding and managing event volunteers
Site supervision during events
