Robert Silman Associates and the National Trust for Historic Preservation are pleased to jointly announce an exciting opportunity for a recent graduate who holds an engineering degree (B.S. or M.S.) in Civil Engineering or Structural Engineering and a Master of Science or Master or Arts in Historic Preservation, or a Master of Science in Structural Engineering. We are contacting your office and/or department chairs to ask that the enclosed announcement be posted and that you contact your top students who might qualify to compete in the Robert Silman Fellowship application process.

In addition to designing many notable new buildings, Robert Silman Associates (RSA) is a nationally recognized leader in the field of preservation engineering (structural engineering for historic buildings) and has worked on some of the largest and most noteworthy preservation projects in this country. RSA is noted for its depth of expertise in the evaluation and sensitive modification of existing structures, and its collaborative spirit during the design process. The firm has offices in New York, Washington DC and Boston.

The Robert Silman Fellow for Preservation Engineering will be hired as a permanent employee of Robert Silman Associates. The 12 month long, three-phase Fellowship will commence with 6 months of employment at Robert Silman Associates, followed by 6 months of employment by the National Trust for Historic Preservation (NTHP) as the Robert Silman Fellow for Preservation Engineering. Upon completion of the 6 months at the NTHP, the Robert Silman Fellow will return to Robert Silman Associates as a full-time, permanent employee of RSA.
