Details

The US/ICOMOS International Exchange Program has opened applications for 2010 internships. The International Exchange Program in historic preservation provides international advanced training and hands-on experience for young professionals. Last year, interns were hosted by INTACH in India, Falmouth Heritage Renewal in Jamaica, the Transylvania Trust in Romania, the Stockholm City Museum in Sweden, the Galway City Council in Ireland, and the National Park Service’s HAER program in Washington, DC.

Internships are geared toward individuals who are in their last year of a relevant graduate program or have been working for 1-3 years in a professional capacity. Successful applicants are those who demonstrate an interest in pursuing preservation work in an international capacity, NOT simply those who need an internship to fulfill a program requirement. The program is very competitive in that only 1 in 5 applicants are awarded internships in any given year. US/ICOMOS provides hotel lodging and meals for orientation and final program in Washington, DC and travel reimbursement and a modest stipend to offset living expenses during the course of the 12-week internship.
