The Clemson University College of Architecture, Arts and Humanities seeks a highly accomplished, dynamic leader with the vision and proven administrative expertise to serve as Dean. The position affords unique and exciting opportunities for the new Dean to nurture and continue to build a strong college. The Dean is expected to be a leader who has demonstrated strong scholarly, pedagogical and administrative skills, a successful record of bold, visionary and strategic thinking, and a proven capacity to reach across the boundaries of his or her own discipline.

The College of Architecture, Arts and Humanities unites the humanities with the disciplines of design and building and the arts. The College provides unique opportunities for interdisciplinary exploration and achievement  opportunities that are rigorous and imaginative, classical and innovative. Our students and faculty see their ideas expressed in myriad formsas buildings and landscapes, as the written and spoken word, as music and drama, as paintings, pottery, prints and photographs. Ten vibrant and diverse departments comprise the college: Art, Architecture, Communication Studies, Construction Science and Management, English, History and Geography, Languages, Performing Arts, Planning and Landscape Architecture, and Philosophy and Religion. The college provides leadership to the University in the areas of off-campus studies, international programs, and general education and produces a remarkably rich environment for research, creative activity, teaching and collaboration between students and faculty.

In addition to the undergraduate and graduate degrees offered by the ten departments, an array of interdisciplinary programs are housed in the Office of the Dean, including doctoral programs in Planning, Design and the Built Environment and in Rhetorics, Communication, and Information Design.

Qualifications include: a terminal degree in a relevant discipline; successful experience as a department chair or the equivalent; a successful record in development activities; demonstrated experience in the support of interdisciplinary and collaborative teaching, research, creative activities and public service; a demonstrated commitment to advocacy for disciplines within the College; experience in off-campus and international programs; demonstrated success in fiscal, physical, and personnel management; and a demonstrated commitment to enhancing diversity and equal opportunities.
